MedTRACK EpiSource is a comprehensive online database offering current, accurate, and reliable epidemiological information on more than 700 indications, procedures, and conditions. Content includes incidence, prevalence, morbidity, mortality and population-based projections in selected countries. Each profile also includes description of the indication, definitions and a detailed methodology. Click-through technology allows users to link directly to all data point sources for further exploration.

MedTRACK EpiSource allows users to quickly identify the most relevant, up-to-date information for indications of interest in an easy-to-use format. The highest quality data from the best sources available has been assimilated into a single, comprehensive report, for each indication. The information has been formatted to provide uniformity and consistency across indications. Many other value-added features and functionalities have been brought together to make EpiSource the leading source of epidemiological information in the industry.

MedTRACK EpiSource is the result of an exhaustive data analysis and evaluation process. Sources include medical journals, surveys, scientific literature, databases, registries, and other related disease-specific websites. Each data source is evaluated by an epidemiology-trained analyst. Profiles also includes a "scrollover" glossary for real-time reference.

Search functions reach into disease descriptions, select literature, news, and announcements for epidemiological information. A well-furnished toolbox makes it easy to find the data you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: In what situations is MedTRACK EpiSource most useful?
A: MedTRACK EpiSource allows the user to quickly characterize an indication or market of interest, in terms of disease rates and population affected. MedTRACK EpiSource saves the user hours of searching and comparing sources of data to determine which is most reliable. Additionally, concise disease descriptions are provided to quickly bring the user up to speed.

Q: What information does a typical profile include?
A: Depending on information availability, profiles include disease descriptions, symptoms, treatments, morbidity, mortality, and prevalence and incidence data for the seven major markets globally. When prevalence and incidence statistics are available on a countrywide basis, they are overlaid with population statistics to derive incident cases and prevalent populations for 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015.

Q: What information is not included in MedTRACK EpiSource profiles?
A: Profiles do not include diagnosis rates or treatment rates. Profiles are also based on the best sourced, most recent data available, as opposed to meta-analyzed from numerous sources.

Q: How is data qualified or standardized since there are a lot of different sources for this information and things could vary regarding prevalence and incidence?
A: Standardization: Data in profiles comes directly from secondary sources. Rather than manipulating data from indication to indication for the purposes of standardization, we’ve searched for the best sourced and most recent studies to the exclusion of others. Each study cited is directly linked for additional information about how the study was conducted, and other nuance details. Qualification: Many data points have additional qualifiers where appropriate. Example qualifiers include (but are not limited to); lifetime prevalence, cumulative incidence, live births, age cohorts, sex cohorts, race cohorts, restricted geographies.

Q: Why is no prevalence and/or incidence data included for the region I need?
A: Our procedure involves searching extensively for data in the seven major markets globally. For some indications there is no reliable, publicly available data for particular regions. We are continuously updating our data and searching for new sources of information. Please feel free to inquire about an indication / region in question and we will perform additional information queries.

Q: I found prevalence / incidence data that disagrees with that presented in MedTRACK EpiSource. What accounts for this difference.
A: Possible factors accounting for differences in data include:

  • Some sources cite studies conducted in restricted geographies as nationwide (e.g., Olmsted County, MN is presented as US data). We have not presented data in this fashion in MedTRACK EpiSource. Restricted geography studies have been presented as such, in MedTRACK EpiSource.
  • Different time periods of studies. We have striven to find the most recent, best sourced data for MedTRACK EpiSource.
  • Some non-public reports combine primary market research, and meta-analytical approaches to derive rates independent of that in existence in the public domain.

Q: Is the MedTRACK EpiSource team available for custom studies?
A: Yes. Custom studies can be commissioned through Life Science Analytics (developers of MedTRACK EpiSource). These reports can be tailored to meet more complex needs. Further information may include, but not be limited to: Primary market research, meta-analytical approach to existing data, additional cohort breakdowns, diagnosis rates, and treatment rates. For further information on custom studies, please contact info@medtrack.com.
